Pinterest Growth and User Info, Will It Be The Next Big Social Media Site? (infographic)

So, exactly what is Pinterest and why is it taking off so quickly?  Simply put, Pinterest is a image and video sharing site which allows users to connect and share super simplistically. It works magnificently well because for the most part, we humans are visual people. It takes just a moment to understand and connect with pictures, and the old saying that “a picture is worth a thousand words” applies.

You will have a much better understanding of the site by browsing the infographic below. To get an account, visit Pinterest.com (it takes a day or so to get you setup).

Enjoy, and happy pinning!

  1. I definitely see Pinterest continuing to grow as more people learn about it, and being a great source of traffic for some time. Especially for ecommerce products, travel, fashion, and even small niches since it’s dead simple for people to pin in groups what they like.

I wonder if having a bunch of people re-pinning with your domain will increase search rankings, since it’s pretty much backlinks and social signals.

For the most part Antonio, we do see a bump in SEO rankings, but we expect this will not continue as Google will probably start to de-rank sites with significant Pinterest links. Right now though, hit while the iron is hot, and it is HOT!

Google, retaliate against the site of any SEO competitor to Adsense dollars? A shocking thought!

What happened to “Do no harm”?

Oh yeah, that was Facebook, or maybe it was Microsoft,or was it Ma Bell?

“Too big to fail” is always preceded by “Too big to play fair anymore”…

  2. I am not at all surprised to learn that Pinterest has surpassed LinkedIn. I use many sites to advertise my business including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest to name just a few. Personally, the site i THOUGHT would drive the most traffic to my stores, Facebook, lags way behind Twitter and Pinterest is quickly surpassing Twitter! Although not technically a “selling” site, it is one of the few sites i list on where i can get my merchandise seen, see what other sellers are offering and havea little fun at the same time!

So true David, I’m glad to see others are having huge traffic success also on Pinterest. Our numbers have been phenomenal!

  3. It’ll be interesting to see how long Pinterest can keep up this growth trend…

I don’t see the growth stopping anytime soon. I predict by the end of the year it will surpass twiter for traffic volume!
